America's Got Talent Is Getting Close To Naming Nick Cannon's Replacement — But A Death In Mel B's Family Has Brought Filming To A Halt

There’s no question that America’s Got Talent has had a tough go of it ever since Nick Cannon left the show — and a ton of drama — behind.

But now, according to TMZ, they are at least getting close to naming Cannon’s replacement as host… and one big name is involved!

The news outlet is reporting that Simon Cowell and AGT producers are down to just three guys in their search for a new host: Marlon Wayans, Tone Bell, and Brandon Mychal Smith.

Wayans is the biggest name here, of course, but reports have it that all three have a roughly equal chance to land the gig, because Bell and Smith both apparently have some serious acting and comedy talents themselves!

Bell is a stand-up comic who’s had appearances on Chelsea Lately and Key and Peele, in addition to work on The Flash and Truth Be Told.

Smith is a Disney product, appearing as a younger kid on That’s So Raven, So Random!, and in Disney movies like Starstruck and Let It Shine.

You might also know Brandon Mychal Smith from his role portraying Little Richard in the James Brown biopic Get On Up!

Oh, and then there’s Wayans, who has a LONG history in the entertainment industry — and even has NBC hosting experience!

Apparently, TMZ says Simon still needs to meet with each of them again and figure out who’s a good fit. From there, we’ll see, but it appears these are his top options!

It won’t matter much for the next few days, anyways, as another TMZ report has Mel B out for a bit on AGT because of the death of her father.

Filming has apparently been canceled for the coming week after Martin Brown died on Saturday following a five-year long battle with myeloma.

So sad!

Our thoughts are with Mel B’s family — word has it she was by her father’s side when he passed. R.I.P.
